Residence Facilities Team (RFT) consists of 9 Service Centre staff, 32 full-time custodians, 4 facility maintenance mechanics, 2 carpenters and a plumber. The Facilities Services staff is present Monday through Friday, from 7am to 3:30pm, to service the Residence buildings. In addition, a number of other skilled tradespersons are on campus and will be “hired-in” as the needs in the building dictate. From time to time, we will also call upon outside contractors to assist with the building needs.
Maintenance requests can be initiated through the Residence Portal.
Emergency work is completed first followed by maintenance jobs and then aesthetic work. The work will be prioritized and then assigned to the appropriate member of the Residence Facilities Team for completion.
It is important to keep in mind that the time frames serve as a guide, and are the time periods in which we endeavour to complete a maintenance request. There will be occasions where due to volume of work, the availability of materials or outside contractors, it will not be possible to complete a task within the guidelines.
