The Project Assistant supports the planning, organization, and execution of various projects and events within the Residence Admissions unit. This role involves administrative support, event coordination, and communication tasks.
Residence Facilities is responsible for ensuring a healthy, safe, secure, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing residential experience. During the summer months, Facilities focuses on providing our summer guests with a positive residential experience, takes the opportunity to enhance the residences with capital renewal initiatives and a comprehensive repair and preventive maintenance programme, and gives all buildings a deep cleaning.
As part of the Residence Facilities team the Conference Room Attendant will support housekeeping tasks to create a welcoming and enjoyable guest experience for our summer guests.

The Conference Guest Experience Assistant represents McMaster University Conference & Event Services as a vital link between Conference Organizers and internal operating partners, fostering exceptional guest service. By maintaining a visible and accessible front-line presence, the Guest Experience Assistant creates a welcoming environment for students, visiting clients, and guests, ensuring their time on campus is both enjoyable and efficient.
The Residence Life Project Assistant will work closely with the Coordinators of Operations, Training & Development, and other members of the Residence Life Management Team (RLMT) to assist with student staff training logistics, large-scale projects/events, and resource organization. This position requires an individual who is self-motivated, takes initiative, and is capable of functioning both independently and in a team setting. The Project Assistant is professional, communicates effectively with others, and has a positive attitude. They are organized, reliable, and thorough, and demonstrate creativity and sound problem-solving skills.
The Guest Experience Assistant will act as a representative of McMaster University Service Center within Housing and Conference Services to ensure a high standard of guest service is achieved. This position provides a visible and accessible front-line presence in order to anticipate, understand and act upon all client needs.
Provide support in the planning and execution of digital and new media content; this includes photography, graphic design, and other creative assets. The Digital Media Assistant will also aid in maintaining department and team social media accounts, as well as collaborate with various stakeholders to organize content needs.
The Community Support Assistant will manage coverage phone calls, meet with Residence Facilities, and be on-campus overnight. They’ll also conduct building rounds and organize daily programming for Conference and Events guests and external stakeholders.
The ROR reports directly to their respective Residence Orientation Advisor (ROA). The ROR will also take direction from the Residence Orientation Planner (ROP) and the Residence Life Management Team (RLMT).
The ROR is responsible for assisting with the organization and implementation of Welcome Week events for their assigned residence hall, the residence-wide community and at the campus-wide level. During Welcome Week, the ROR is responsible for assisting with the residence move-in process, as determined by the Department of Housing and Conference Services, and for supporting the University’s Orientation Committee.
Community Advisors (CAs) are student staff who provide connection, support, and mentorship to incoming first-year students. CAs are a part of the Residence Life team and support students living on-campus in residence.
Senior Community Advisors have all responsibilities of a Community Advisor with an additional role in supporting the student conduct process, advising their area team, providing administrative support to the RLAC and spearheading area team projects.
Reporting to the Residence Orientation Planner (ROP), the ROA will assist in the selection and training of approximately 145 Residence Orientation Representatives (RORs) who will help to organize and implement the orientation plan.
Specifically, the ROA is responsible to support the development and implementation of an Orientation Plan for assigned residence hall(s) in collaboration with the RORs and Residence Life Staff. The ROA will support the RORs affiliated with the residence hall(s). When planning events, the ROA will address our First Year Curriculum goals to ensure alignment with the Welcome Week Goals and Guiding Principles.

Serve as Residence Ambassador (RA) for visitors to McMaster. Follow established script when conducting room tour. RAs show off their residence rooms and discuss the benefits and advantages of living on campus. Ambassadors also act as the “face of residence” on key recruitment days such as Fall Preview.
Assist the HCS department and Residence Life Team in identifying and registering guests to the McMaster residence buildings. Will act as an ambassador to the department while interacting with students, staff, and campus partners. Work is routine and performed under close supervision following established procedures.

Under general supervision of the Residence Education Coordinator, the successful candidate will assist with the planning, promotion, implementation and assessment of various projects and events for the Residence Education department. Work is performed in accordance with standard procedures and guidelines.
Each Project Assistant will assist with various events and projects within the Residence Education Department, but may be primarily assigned to a few of the six LLC communities. These communities include: Entrepreneurs in Residence, Health & Wellness, Leaders & Influencers, Sustainable Futures, Wilson College, and Women in Leadership.
