When is Move-In?

For 2019, McMaster residence move-in will take place on Saturday, August 24th and Sunday, August 25th.

Your building assignment will determine which dates and times you are expected to move-in. Look for more specific information upcoming in your August newsletter and on this page in early August. Student Staff (CA’s etc.) will be informed of their move-in dates and times individually.

What to Bring to Residence?

There’s a lot to consider when packing to move-in. For everything you need to know, read one of our recent residence student’s recommendations here.

How Do I Get to My Residence? Where Do I Park After?

To make move-in day as stress-free as possible, each residence building will follow their own specific move-in driving route, with a designated unloading zone and parking area. These maps are currently being updated for 2019 and when available will be viewable by building below.

What if I Need to Move-in Early?

During the summer months, we welcome hotel and conference guests from around the world to McMaster. After they leave in mid-August, we work hard to ensure that residence is ready to go for our incoming students. As such, we can accommodate only international or out-of-province students with flight arrangements before move-in day. If this applies to you, you may request an early move-in date. Students are responsible for all additional fees associated with their approved early arrival. Charges will be made to your student account for each additional day. More information about applying for an early move-in date will be available in early August.

What if I Need to Move-in Late?

We wish you could make it to move-in! Move-in weekend is an exciting time on campus and we hope that you’ll be able to join us on your designated move-in date. If you can’t, you are welcome to move-in after your scheduled date and time.

Depending on when you plan to arrive, you may need to notify our office. More information about the late arrival process will be shared in the August newsletter in early August.

Can I Bring a Mini-Fridge?

As per the Fridge Policy, you are not allowed to bring your own mini-fridge into residence. You are welcome to rent a mini-fridge through Coldex. If you are living in a traditional triple or quad room, you will receive a large mini-fridge on us.

If you are in any other room type and order your fridge before August 20th, it will be waiting for you when you move in.

If you order your fridge after August 20th, Coldex will be back on the McMaster campus September 1st to deliver those fridges to students. These students will have to meet the Coldex delivery truck on September 1st at the delivery time and location specified for their Residence Building to the right and bring the mini-fridge to their room.
