Looking to get ahead in your career? McMaster Residence Life has partnered with the Student Success Centre (SSC) to offer a new opportunity to explore your interests and skills as they relate to future careers. You will be encouraged to participate in activities that focus on goal setting and career exploration as you work to create an individualized career readiness plan. The Career Hive Living Learning Community will help residents familiarize and develop key skills and competencies that employers are looking for. You will learn how to best position yourself for part-time and summer job opportunities, find ways to engage in resume building activities, and discover employment resources and support available on campus.

In the Career Hive Living Learning Community, you will be able to:
- Find meaning and purpose related to career interests, skills and goals
- Develop knowledge and strengths to make informed and confident decisions about level II program selections
- Build experience by discovering ways to get engaged and develop skills while at McMaster
- Transform high school resumes into the most sought-after formats including LinkedIn profiles, digital resumes and more
- Attend an appointment with a Career Advisor to get your career planning conversation started
Programs & Opportunities
Students in the Career Hive community will evaluate and recognize personal strengths, interests, and skills by participating in personality assessment activities such as SkillsScan and TypeFocus and attending interactive sessions like Find your Mission and Values and Career Game.
Opportunities to learn about ways to gain experience both on- and off-campus will be provided with activities such as the annual Community Engagement & Volunteer Fair, SSC Experience Scavenger Hunt and Co-curricular Showcase.
Students will get job ready by participating in an amazing interactive Resume/LinkedIn Lab, Find your Major workshop and Summer Job Search Café. They will also conduct an Informational Interview to learn about skills needed to get hired.
Each Living Learning Community offers a variety of activities and programs that make up key parts of the residence experience. Residents are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the many unique activities and events offered. Students can participate in as many or as few LLC events as they would like but the more events participated means more opportunities to connect with fellow students and other members of the McMaster community.
