Office Support Assistant Job Description

The Office Support Assistant will assist the Financial team in Housing and Conference services perform a variety of financial transactions and clerical duties.

Accountabilities:

  • Schedule meetings, room bookings and appointments.
  • Greet visitors, answer routine inquiries in person, by telephone or e-mail. Escalate non-routine inquires to appropriate personnel.
  • Process payments and journal entries according to established guidelines.
  • Run reports and perform standard analyses according to established guidelines.
  • Update and maintain files, correspondence and records according to established guidelines.
  • Verify and review a variety of files, records and documentation according to established guidelines.
  • Assist with mailings and ordering of supplies and office materials.
  • Copy, collate and assemble a variety of documents and packages for review.
  • Provide administrative support for events and meetings.
  • Perform other secretarial and clerical duties of a similar nature, as required.

Qualifications:

  • Full time McMaster student
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 6 months related experience in a customer service environment

Additional info:

  • The Office Support Assistant generally works Monday- Friday 8:30am-4:30pm.
  • Additional hours outside of normal hours may be needed. For example: Move in weekend support.
  • Note that due to operational needs vacation requests will not be permitted during the timeframe of July 7- August 10
