Leading a team of 7 Residence Orientation Assistants (ROAs), as well as 130+ Welcome Week reps, the Residence Orientation Planner will provide direction, and put your decision making and organizational skills to the test. Applicants must be planning to attend McMaster as a full-time undergraduate student in September 2024. 

Hours: Part-time throughout the Winter 2024 semester – full-time during the summer months.

As an ambassador of the Residence Life Office, the CA will develop a community support system in an assigned area that promotes personal dignity, mutual respect and consideration for others. They will assist in dealing with transitional needs, social integration and belonging of residence students by delivering interactive activities and ensuring the physical, mental, and social safety of all participants.

Residence Building Operations is responsible for ensuring a healthy, safe, secure, comfortable, and aesthetically pleasing residential experience.  During the fall winter months, Facilities focuses on providing our residence students with a positive residential experience, takes the opportunity to enhance the residences with capital renewal initiatives and a comprehensive repair and preventive maintenance programme, and keeps all common spaces clean.

Assists with the completion of housekeeping tasks. Work is routine and performed under direct supervision according to established procedures. This role is exclusive to suites used by summer conference guests.

The Guest Registration Assistant (GRA) assists with upholding and enforcing McMaster Residence’s Guest Policy while acting as an ambassador of the Residence Life unit and the Housing & Conference Services Department.

The GRA will work with the Community Advisors, Residence Life Area Coordinators, other members of the Residence Life Management Team, and members of the Service Centre team in fulfilling their job requirements.

Join us for one of the best student jobs on campus! With approximately 10,000 visitors joining us on campus each year, Residence Ambassadors are critical in helping students choose to live and study at McMaster.

Ambassadors show off their residence rooms and discuss the benefits and advantages of living on campus. Ambassadors also act as the ‘face of residence’ on key recruitment days such as Fall Preview and May at Mac.

Residence Ambassadors are expected to work a minimum of three 1-hour tours a month, with job training beginning in early September.

Under close supervision, the Senior Community Advisor will plan, organize, and implement team building and programming opportunities while assisting with various projects in accordance with established guidelines. The Senior Community Advisor position is a live-on position in residence.

Student Summer Job Opportunities

Working with the Manager, Information Systems, the successful applicant will provide technical assistance to resolve staff computing problems within the Housing and Conference Services Department. The primary responsibilities are to assist with creating service documentation, providing excellent customer desktop support, inventory tracking, and resolving IT problems in a timely manner.

This position will work in a supportive team environment to welcome all inquiries through our digital front-facing communications (Live chat, email, social media) channels in a 24/7 environment. As well, we will have a dedicated person dedicated to the “Content Creator” portfolio who will focus on building media content that will be shared widely across a variety of mediums. This person should be proficient with social media and video editing software.
