Global Perspectives Living Learning Community

Ready to Change the World?

The Global Perspectives Community brings together students who are interested in cross-cultural learning, global diversity, and complex international issues. Through facilitated workshops, dialogue, and reflection, students in this living environment will focus on exploring the complex ideas that shape our shrinking world.
Students who live in the Global Perspectives LLC will have the opportunity to explore career options linked to the theme. Through active engagement with the Global Perspectives LLC, students will develop an increased awareness of self and how they can effect change in their world. If you are dedicated to celebrating the commonalities and differences between cultures on personal, local and global levels, then Global Perspectives is right for you!

Why Join the Global Perspectives Living Learning Community?

Students who are a part of the Global Perspectives Living Learning Community will have the opportunity to:
  • Develop an understanding of their personal identity
  • Demonstrate consideration for the needs of others in the world
  • Build relationships with people who have different identities than their own
  • Learn more about the ways they can create positive change in the world
Each Living Learning Community offers a variety of activities and programs that make up key parts of the residence experience. We strongly encourage residents to take advantage of the many of the unique activities and events offered. Students can participate in as many or as few LLC events as they would like but the more events you participate in the more opportunities you will have to connect with fellow students and other members of the McMaster community.

Programs & Opportunities

Students in the Global Perspectives community will have the opportunity to meet McMaster faculty members and community experts in a variety of disciplines and discuss skill-building practices essential for global agents of change.
Events for this community include faculty and community expert visits, Model UN Mini-Conference, trending topic panels, design thinking workshops, and service learning opportunities. Global Perspectives students will have a number of opportunities to participate in the academic and social aspects of the university and the surrounding community. Within residence, students will have access to academic support, service opportunities, and professional workshops.
Global Perspectives will help residents get connected to the McMaster community by introducing them to experiences within the campus and Hamilton community. Students will be encouraged to branch out into the community with tours, social events, and volunteer experiences at the university and surrounding area.
